[HSI] slow speeds during evening hours

Guys I have a strange situation going on in regards to internet speeds I have a 100 meg connection. The problem I'm seeing is if I download files during the day I pull from 85 to 100 megs however after 7 PM the speeds suck for example last night I was pulling 27 megs on a download. So what do you guys think is there just over subscription in my area?

Um yeah an overloaded node will do that.

Im having the same issues in the Greenville SC area. Evening hours yield 4x normal ping(140ms instead of 40ms) times and slow speeds. Posted in the direct forums but nothing resolved yet...

Having the same issue the past 2 nights in Greenville as well, it cleared up today and I thought all was fine, but back to 200 latency and 5mb/s speeds on Ultra 100.

Still having problems here tonight. Its like the 3rd of 4th night in a row now. Around 8pm and onward my pings all jump 4x as much and my DL speed dies. I recommend anyone having issues in the Greenville area to post here and on the Direct forums to get Charter's attention.

Yep, another night just started happening again for me as well. I've been talking with them on twitter but they just want to send out techs... which I doubt is going to do anything because they'll be here at 10AM when my internet goes to crap at 9PM.

That's exactly what i was told in the direct forum. "Send out tech" even though my service is fine all day up until 8pm. There is nothing wrong on my end. My signal levels are fine. I dont have any packet loss...its just my ping shoots to over 100ms after the 2nd local Charter network hop after 8pm. Its obviously a local issue with Charter.

Haha yep, 1st 2 hops are sub-15 latency then it spikes to 150+, around midnight everything goes back to normal.

Posted a direct thread, because twitter support isn't really cutting it, I need more than 140 characters to explain myself lol. Hopefully we get this resolved soon.

This is the node that is giving me the problem i believe. Its the 2nd hop in the local Charter network.

crr01gnvlsc-tge-0-7-0-0.gnvl.sc.charter.com [96.34.64.44]

Can you guys confirm on your end if this is the same IP giving you problems?

Yes that is the hope that is the hop that is giving me the most latency from the tracert I did to a couple of sites.

My third hop crr01gnvlsc-tge-0-7-0-0.gnvl.sc.charter.com [96.
34.64.44]. That's where my pings start skyrocketing.

»speedtest.ookla.com/result/1837358804.png This is my Ultra100 at the moment, the past few days around midnight it likes to go away, so i'll reply/update around then just to see if you guys are around, and it's the same for you.

Well i listed that hop's IP to the charter rep in the Direct forum. I guess the balls in their court. A tech visit to any customer's house isnt going to fix anything as the problem isnt on the customer's end.

I told them that and they told me I'm wrong haha.

Speeds/Pings are back to normal for me now, as of this post. They returned to normal speed like this the past few days as well

Things just returned to normal for me, as it's been the past few nights. I haven't a clue what would make this so repeatable.

Same thing happening to me in Monterey Park,CA
I went from 30ping to 540 ping and the person I talked to on the phone said it was my router. After I disconnected my router he said he had to send a tech. I said thank you for wasting my time and hung up.

Have had numerous techs come out and not fix the problem.
It's too bad Charter is the only cable company in my area, I would have switched years ago.

Looks like my net just decided to start doing the same thing, but at an entirely different time than it has been happening. Yay, same node though

Same server for me on 100/5. My net has been this way since 3PM today. Longest it's been this way so far.

I'm in the Anderson, SC service area (near Greenville, SC) and I too am having the exact same issue.

Except my speeds are OK, but the ping is obviously not.

Re: [HSI] slow speeds during evening hours

Pings have been worse in the past day or so. Really high at night especially.
