Car radio AM I transmit useful info! |
I was wondering something else most car radios for AM do they use the external antenna or the antenna inside the radio it's self? I wonder if it's like a set-top radio. Speaking of the AM I meant to post this some 5 or so months ago about that highway radio antenna for traffic.. I finally got a picture of it in slow enough traffic. |

Car radios don't have internal FM or AM antennas. Wont work inside a metal box |

Car radios either have a conventional metal antenna, a rubber duck [coiled antenna in a rubber protective jacket] or a wire antenna embedded in the rear window. |

Don't forget the older cars and trucks that had the two wires running through the windshield for antennas. Those got on my nerves back in the day. |

Automotive radios do not have an internal antenna. So they use an external one. Reception of AM inside a car is going to be poor at best. |

I like cassette deck/CD combo units. Must have been around the early 90's late 80's? |

Hey Dustyn,
What does AS mean on the radio i linked above?? (The AS button) i always wondered that in my friends car when listening to it....... (She sadly got rid of that car and got another one which the radio IS A PIECE OF GARBAGE compared to most car radios!! (Hardily any reception on AM (Just interference from the car usually and crappy FM reception))) |

Don't know. AS= Audio Silence? AKA: MUTE or Hold the button down and it will preselect the 6 strongest radio signals in your area. |

Needs ferrite beads on the power leads, or a better power supply. |
