[att=1] Is your school on the CalREN network? I was never able to pull more than 75 in each direction when I ran a speedtest. |

 | reply to WiFiguru Wow, quick than my home connection. Maybe next year I will catch up to those speeds. My current speed is 153Mbps/70Mbps. |

 | reply to ExoticFish That site is just like every other joke speed test site on the web. I am on a 1Gb up / 1Gb down that's directly connected to a router with multiple connections to the internet that range from 1Gb to 10Gb.
My test that was just run at 1:50 EST and it's showing 55Mb/18Mb. There is enough available bandwidth on my network that I should easily beat the daily download and monthly upload records posted. -- I do not, have not, and will not work for AT&T/Comcast/Verizon/Charter or similar sized company. |

Los Nettos has peering with NTT, HE.net, WVFIBER, and Any2IX at One Wilshire here in Los Angeles. CENIC connects all of the education together here in California, and peers with Internet2.
Most of our transit is off of the Los Nettos backbone.
To top it off, the consortium has 100Gbps to Cenic/Los Nettos (aggregate), each school gets 10Gbps - 20Gbps (5 colleges here) |

1.5 Gbps Pipe (we pay for extra... you try cramming 150K users down a 400Mbps pipe)

AT&T 400 Mbps pipe (state funded)
And remember children... it is also how loaded the speedtest server is that can respond to you as well...
//been around education for too long... teachers are starting to rub off on me |

 | reply to netboy34 Why does your ISP "The Board of Regents" make me think of Warehouse 13? Very cool |
|
netboy34 join:2001-08-29 Kennesaw, GA kudos:1 | The full name is "The board of Regents of the University System of Georgia" kinda oddly named since we are a k-12 institution. But that is the state provided Internet connection. One Ring is our supplemental connection that is paid for out of our own budget. (And if our AT&T connection goes down we still have Internet) |
