[TV] Extra receiver in the home.

Guys I am at the point with my son where father and son can't agree on what they want to watch and I think I need another tv and receiver in my house. How much is it going to cost me to do this ?

$149 to buy, $129 to buy at Costco, and $9.99/month to rent.

Uhmmmm so what about a charge though to view the cable on another tv ? Is there not a charge for that ? Again I want to view the cable on another tv set. I doubt it is just $9.99 and nothing else but if it is that is not so bad.

Nope. No additional charge if you buy the receiver, and only $9.99 if you rent one.

If all you care about is SD I think Cogeco rents those for $5 a month or something like that.

Awesome news. Thanks so much. I wonder though what they will need to do to get both going ? I have a white cable and a black cable I see coming from a hole that was drilled in my bedroom long ago before I rented this apartment. What is with those ?

Hard to say Sean, best way to test it would be to move your current receiver over to that room and test it on those lines. If one/both of them work, then you're set. If not, you can call in to have a technician install a line into the room, (One time $29.99 install fee).

Unless they've changed it, there is a charge for additional outlets if you are on Basic cable. I believe that all the other packages include unlimited outlets.

If you buy from Cogeco and they provision it (set it up) then there is no charge, but if you were to buy from Costco then Cogeco will charge you $30 to provision the unit.

Now this may have changed from years ago, but the last time we bought a unit from futureshop and Cogeco set it up we were changed.

I'd phone and find out from Cegeco if there's a setup charge if you don't buy the unit from them directly.

I bought my FIL an HD receiver from Future Shop last year and it cost a sum total of zero dollars to activate.

It is actually $4.06/month to rent a SD receiver. Costco sells the HD receivers for $139.99. Future Shop sells them for $149.99, Cogeco sells them for $199.99. The SD receivers are $159.99 from Cogeco. Styvas is right about the additional monthly charge for Basic subscribers to add an outlet. With the higher packages up to three outlets can be added for free. To rent an HD receiver it costs $10.14/month.
