The power company pays cash if you turn in an old, working appliance.
Recycling metal companies take the money on both ends.

So Cal Edison will come pick it up and give you I think $50.00

[edit] $35?

But of course they say it's supposed to be in working condition...YMMV.

I did this when I got a new fridge a couple of years ago. Mine was in working condition but no one actually checked.
