| Water Softener Stopped Working The gears are all jammed and you can barley turn them a cm without the feeling that you are going to snap them off. Is it possible to just get the top unit (timer thingy) replaced? |

If it has any age on it replacing the entire unit with a newer design might be the way to go. |

said by Jack_in_VA:Yes It's possible to replace the control/valve assembly. How old is the unit? If it has any age on it replacing the entire unit with a newer design might be the way to go. I think it's around 15 years old but it has had the beads replaced. |

 jmdominiPremium join:2000-05-04 Sycamore, IL | That looks like an old Fleck (now Pentair Water) 5600 control valve. They still make it and make parts for it, so it's quite possible it can be repaired. I'd recommend having a local Softener dealer come out and take a look. |
