| Converting mp4/mkv to avi without pixelation? Hi All:
I have a handful of mp4 and/or mkv files that I'd like to be able to play on my Xbox 360, so I tried converting them to avi using Hamster (»www.hamstersoft.com/). The videos themselves converted fine, but quality was drastically reduced, even after selecting the highest video quality available.
Are there any other options (preferably free) that would convert these files with minimal quality loss? Thanks in advance. |

 | reply to Hazy Arc memcoder is probably still the best converter, but it's commandline driven, so not exactly user friendly.... -- Wacky Races 2012! |

Re: Converting mp4/mkv to avi without pixelation? i know a step by step guide on How to Solve "can't play MP4 on Xbox 360" issue at »www.bigasoft.com/articles/how-to···360.html
in fact this guide also helps to convert other videos including MKV, MP4, MOV, MPG, FLV, WTV, AVCHD, RMVB, and etc to Xbox supported AVI, WMV
hope it helps more or less |

 | reply to Hazy Arc Thanks for all of the suggestions - I ended up installing Plex Server on my desktop and it streams like a champ to my 360 while transcoding on the fly. No conversion necessary! |

 | No kidding! It works flawlessly with my Roku and mobile devices as well. It's really outstanding. |

| reply to Hazy Arc I use DVDFab for all my video conversion needs. Most is free, but some specific portions require purchasing a license.

 | reply to Hazy Arc I will say that I ended up using Handbrake in Conjunction with Plex. I used Handbrake to convert my existing DVDs into MP4s, then used Plex to stream them to my Xbox 360. |

 | i use make mkv to convert my blurays and then handbreak to remove the encryption and then use windows media server to stream to my tv. there is also a free app that will get you the album art so it shows up on the xbox |
