| [Cable] Bloor POI - Slow evening speeds and bad Pingtest (C&D) I have posted in TekSavvy Direct forum, but for others here are my findings: Slow evening speeds and bad pingtest

I have had great service for a year and a half... POI congestion for the first month and I have experienced slow issues evnings for the past month. Finally confirmed tonight as I was not here all that much and could only judge by remote login and my tenants complaints.
Is this something that you can escalate to Rogers so they split the node into more nodes?
Here is an update - Toronto test |

D3 modems don't tend to have these issues due to channel bonding. Local nodes are rogers parts of the network. |

JM9 @teksavvy.com | I have the same problem. I'm right near Rogers HQ at Bloor. |
|
 | JM9, sorry to hear about this. Have you opened a ticket with us to look into this?
If not could you please post here: » TekSavvy Direct with your account information so we can investigate and submit a ticket if needed.

Aaro join:2010-10-09 Scarborough, ON | reply to Madwand Having a similar problem, just not always limited to evenings. Two days ago, that was my line all day, actually. Since then, it's been much better (back to normal, it looks like).
I did post in the Direct forum, but couldn't provide the line stats they needed; the connection keeps fixing itself every time I get down to connecting my PC to the modem.
I had a Rogers tech come out early last week to deal with another issue I had (related?); the modem would lose connection suddenly out of nowhere and would fix itself later. By the time the tech came, the issue hadn't cropped up for days, and of course he saw a perfect line and blamed my modem for future problems.
I'm just slightly north of Pape/Danforth for the last year; always had great connection save for 2-3 random outages throughout the year that lasted for a few hours at most. |

I believe you have diagnosed your problem yourself with this statement.

Aaro join:2010-10-09 Scarborough, ON | The blanket assumption that it's my router is not necessary. If you have suggestions on my specific issue, I believe my Direct thread is open to you.
For fun, though: 1. Weeks ago, my modem would lose connection. I would restart my modem and my router, and no fix. I would connect directly to the modem, and no fix. This got better on its own, unless you have some information on my line that I don't.
2. Days ago, my speeds started choking, with line stats like the OP showed. I would restart my modem and my router, and no fix. I would connect directly to the modem, and no fix. When I posted in the direct forum, I was told to get stats without the router. When I connected directly to the modem later that night, my issue had already been fixed. No, I did not do speedtests moments prior to disconnecting my router, so who knows when things got better? When I reconnected my router, the issue stayed fixed.
Two days later, I have not seen the speed issue again to try to connect to the modem again. Yes, so perhaps the 100th restart was the trick.
Considering how long I've been talking to other TSI guys in the Direct thread, I'm taking a lot of offence to you giving me a one-line diagnosis here. Quite unexpected. |

TSI MartinPremium join:2006-02-23 Chatham, ON kudos:23 | Hey Aaro,
I must confess i didn't read the direct thread, nor was I aware you had posted it there, whether it was mentioned above or not. But that statement I quoted although may now seem very vague with the follow up to my comment would directly mean such a thing. That if you remove a computer from a router to then plug into a modem & have an issue resolved, simply points to the obvious.
I do see now from the Direct thread that lots of TS was performed. I did assume, such as you did that I had read your direct thread. And for that I'll apologies as there was no harm intended in my comment.
I would be interested if you can confirm your Internet IP lease time. As of all the TS you performed, we never did take a look at this. Not to assume once again, but if you are at hour leases then maintenance could be a cause of issues you are currently experiencing.

Aaro join:2010-10-09 Scarborough, ON | No harm done. The important thing is to see if there really is a Bloor POI issue or not.
Right now, my IP lease shows expiry at noon Oct 17. This is across three laptops. |

TSI MartinPremium join:2006-02-23 Chatham, ON kudos:23 | Is that the lease for the 192.168 IP or your Internet IP? I'm also getting tomorrow on my leased IP for my Home network.
Was the lease time picked up from the router or doing a ipconfig /all from the laptop connected to router? -- TSI Martin (Escalations / Social Media) - TekSavvy Solutions Inc. Authorized TSI employee ( »»TekSavvy FAQ »Official support in the forum ) Follow me on Twitter : @TSIMartin |

Aaro join:2010-10-09 Scarborough, ON | That lease time was picked up from ipconfig /all.
The router states its lease time as 86400, so one day. |
