Most of their stuff is also on mac(and ya know with the dosbox stuff there is no reason for it not to be, more money), so I don't have any idea why they don't have linux games too. The humble indie bundles average paid, linux is always the highest(if you look at it now the average is >$10, for mac and windows its <$8) so linux games do sell.

I can see a lot of stuff coming to linux, sure not everything, but eventually most of that will work in wine. I would love if valve helped the wine team, that would be perfect.

Does gog hold the rights to the games? or are they just reselling the games?
Their license may allow them to configure the game to work with dosbox, and not much else [if they even configure the game].

Or are the games gog sells considered abandon ware? Meaning the publisher walked away from it, as well as the developers.

I've always been curious as to the rules when it comes to abandon ware.

for some reason there is something different about them from other game companies, even other DDers for games.

But if they can get everything that has already been released on Linux:
the Valve back catalog

Everything that works in DOSBox

What can be natively ported that has already had it's game engine ported they would be in pretty good shape with a mix of new and old games.

If Valve partners with the Wine team then we may see more working pseudo-ports as well.

Either way, the more games the more users buying them, the larger the surface area for Linux and thus the more likely we see more native ports of new games. Native ports being the ideal if they are actually going to make a console and have it based on Linux.

Seems to be working fine, although download speeds seem to be currently terrible. I'm guessing the Linux mirrors are not as robust as the Windows and Mac mirrors yet. As soon as Team Fortress 2 completes downloading I'll give it a spin and report back.

That is the plan, AFAIK... I'd like them to start by making all of their steamplay games available so I could start playing BL2 on Ubuntu

Just a FYI: I was given an invite this week as well, after reading the steam boards people have the beta running on Debian well as Fedora.
