| No exact replacement. Went from a 30 to 120 gb HD. Clean install of XP, did the updates, started reinstalling apps. Ran fine before, switch, speedwise.
One bizarre thing I noticed: now on the laptop, when I open My Network Places I get a list of shared folders on the *desktop* PC, instead of the usual list: add Network Place, Network Setup Wizard, etc. I don't know *what* that is but I'm guessing it's not helping the situation.
(If this is in fact a network problem, my apologies for posting here.)
