How can u tell which satellite you are on? -T1000

I just got the DISH package Monday and when I asked which satellite I was on, the installer said 107. That doesn't mean much to me and I haven't been able to find out anything about it.

I saw in other posts where folks talk about latitiude/longitude. Mine is:
Terminal Latitude 38 ° 59.655" N
Terminal Longitude 78 ° 12.972" W

Thanks!!

The degree given is the marker for the orbital slot the satellite sits in. In other words, 107W is Hughesnet Gen4 Echostar 17

so does the DISH bundled packages use the same dish and TRIA/LNB for both internet and television.. I'm guessing not. Just wonder if they install 2 dishes or not..

Yes, it is a separate Dish. I now have one for TV and one for Internet.

in regards to dishes...
residential, hughesnet will typically install a .74m antenna (typical gray in color with black hughesnet across front of dish), with the 1watt radio and ht1000 modem.

dishnetwork, is installing a .69m antenna (black with red and white dishnetwork logo). they also use the exact same 1w radio and ht1000 modem, right out of hughes labeled boxes.

both are pointing to echostar 17.
