 | [AB] No Ports Available for Telus TV/Internet, SE Edmonton Just curious what the odds are of one becoming available? I just moved into this Condo and the previous owners had Shaw. I wanted Telus for many reasons, I've had plenty of issues with Shaw in the past.
Long story short, I ordered my Optik TV/Internet install and got a call today from the sales rep who I talked to yesterday. She told me that no ports were available for my area and that she has been checking all day to see if one becomes available. She told me that she will continue to check until Monday (today is Thursday).
Now, basically what I'm wondering is; is it that likely that a port will become available or is my best bet to get Shaw hooked up. I dont really want to be without TV/Internet for anymore than a week. |

It could take anywhere from a day to a month or longer. There's really no way to know, unless you can find someone at Telus who knows, but good luck with that.
Basically this means that the remote DSLAM (usually a big white or grey cabinet somewhere in your neighborhood) has no ports that are free.
Either you will have to wait until someone cancels their service so a port will become free, or Telus will have to install another line card for more ports (that's assuming there's still room in the cabinet).
There's really no telling how long it could take.
When I signed up for Telus DSL service back in 2006, I was in the same situation, and it ended up taking about a month. |

I can't promise you anything but if you pm your phone number and your address, I can take a look for you. -- I may work for, but do not necessarily represent the views and beliefs of TELUS Communications. |
