From the article:
Kevin O'Kane, a broadcasting veteran and representative of the new owners of the station, Western Pacific Broadcast L.L.C., said the Atlantic City station will initially televise infomercials and children's programming.
Hopefully that initial period will last not much longer! |

 | reply to roddy3530 The televised Philadelphia Soul games last year and are adding college football and most likely college basketball. They're transitioning themselves from a really low budget independing station with informercials to a low budget station with entertainment, and possibly have a lineup similar to the old CN8 Comcast Network of a few years ago. |

Comcast to add new Atlantic City TV station to lineup October 17, 2012|By Bob Fernandez, INQUIRER STAFF WRITER
A new Atlantic City television station, WACP, will be added to Comcast Corp.'s Philadelphia-area cable-TV lineup.
WACP will appear as Channel 4 on Comcast in most areas. Currently available over DirecTV and Dish satellite systems, the new channel was created after the transition to broadcast-TV industry's switch to digital signals in 2009.
Kevin O'Kane, a broadcasting veteran and representative of the new owners of the station, Western Pacific Broadcast L.L.C., said the Atlantic City station will initially televise infomercials and children's programming.
Comcast is required to carry WACP under federal "must-carry" regulations. |

andyrossPremium,MVM join:2003-05-04 Schaumburg, IL | reply to roddy3530 To be picky, 'must carry' means it covers certain areas AND they don't ask Comcast for money. If they get greedy and want a per-subscriber fee, then the rules no longer apply and Comcast can say no. |

New Philly VHF-Station Set To Launch Next Week TVNewsCheck - Oct 19, 2012 »www.tvnewscheck.com/article/6297···ext-week
The article says that "WACP will begin broadcasting on Oct. 23" but it has actually been on-the-air since June 18th "operating with program test authority," so I guess "testing" is coming to an end now.
I like one reader's comment at the end of the article:
This channel has been broadcasting nonstop infomercial dreckage in the Philly area for a couple months now. We occasionally watch to laugh at the used car clown salesmen. |

These lower end stations are perfect for those Big East Network, SEC Network, ACC Network games. |

Court Reverses FCC Denial of Station License Reallocation to New Jersey, Delaware Says move squares with the intent of law that each state have at least one VHF station if possible By John Eggerton, Broadcasting & Cable - December 14, 2012 »www.broadcastingcable.com/articl···ware.php
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit has told the FCC to allow the reallocation of two station licenses from Nevada and Wyoming to New Jersey and Delaware, saying the move squares with the intent of a law that each state have at least one VHF station if it is technically feasible.
The FCC in September 2011 upheld a 2009 Media Bureau decision denying the move of TV station channel licenses from Wyoming and Nevada to New Jersey and Delaware, which at the time of the initial request had no VHF stations. When PMCM TV, owner of KJWY-TV Jackson (Wyo.), and KVNV-TV Ely (Nev.), filed for the move, New Jersey and Delaware were the only states without a VHF station. That was after WOR-TV Secaucus went digital and moved to a UHF channel. BTW - Has the programming offered on WACP changed (improved) any yet? |
