I prefer names that make one pause.
"Secret Service virus factory"
"FBI Honeypot"
"Hack you Back"
"nothing to see here"

I assume that many of those "passive-aggressive" names are intended to be humorous.

"cowbell" what's passive-aggressive about that? Does that term come from the same morons that thought up "fiscal cliff" and "cyb0r m0nday?" It really does seem like there's some central authority making up stupid media terms that somehow are picked up by every tv and radio station in the USA. It's just odd to me.

Jobsworths with marketing and or advertising degrees, ya know, standard morons.

LOL. Why use it then? I bricked my brand new WAP about a decade ago with its firmware upgrade through its hard wired cable. I returned it and got a Linksys WAP11 and it still works today AFAIK.

Is this really a crime and if so should cops be focusing their limited resources on this?

A bigot named their WiFi signal “F--- All Jews and N----” — and now cops are investigating.

Don't cops have better things to do like solve murders.

I used the SSID "wifi_virus_tests" for about two years. Some neighbour runs "You_Know_Who" but I don't.

Even though I ran WPA, I used to get a few authentication attempts per month with previous random SSID names ... zilch since the name change.
