[Rant] DirectTV

I have DirectTV premier protection plan. So after having a tech come out to replace outside cable i were charged $49.95, when i have called CS i were told i still would have to pay $49.95 for the service call even when i have a premier protection plan.

Sounds like the fee shouldn't apply in your case:
said by DirectTV :
Service Fee: In the event that one of the following products: all TVs, all computer systems, home theater systems, tablets, netbooks, laptops and monitors less than 24” in size requires service, you will be required to pay a fifty ($50) dollar Service Fee. The Service Fee must be paid and received in advance of the service being provided and may be paid by a valid credit card. NOTE: You will not be charged a Service Fee for claims related to any other product; however, the costs associated with the repair or replacement of the product will apply toward the Aggregate Limit under this Plan.

I believe they've made a mistake-or the repairman is scamming you. I've had them come out twice to re-aim my dish. Once for a bad DVR. And once for a bad connector. Never paid a penny.

He also has told me "If you have any more problems call me directly, just do not call DirectTV or i will be in big trouble." But i do not see a reason to scam someone by charging them for service when they should not have, because the charge billed to the DirectTV bill. No cash was exchanged.

No way should you have been charged. I have seen a lot of damaged DirecTV equipment changed under the Protection Plan and there was never a charge. Something went wrong in billing and DirecTV will want to know about it, so they can prevent it from happening again. This is a relatively new upgrade to Protection Plans, so they need to find the bugs in the billing system to correct them. They can only do that if people call in as soon as possible after getting charged for something they should not have been charged for. Call and ask for the issue to be resolved so you do not have to pay.

He stated that because he doesn't want a repeat service call to come back on his number (SOS30, 60 and 90 day horizon)... He is looking out for his stats. However, if he works directly for the company, he is violating policy by asking you to call him directly.

As for the billing, the $50 service charge mentioned above would NOT apply here as that service fee is only for any product outside of DirecTV's scope of control (laptops, TV's, etc) but that are still covered under the PPP. The premier plan includes the regular protection plan which covers EVERY aspect of the DirecTV installation; i.e. cables, connectors, wall plates, jumpers, etc... Bottom Line, you were charged in error, and under the PP, you should not have been charged anything.

I've sent you a PM, may be able to help you...

If you have a PROTECTION PLAN you shouldnt have to pay for such calls!!!!

They have to be billing you for something OTHER THAN THE CALL!!

Good luck

True. DirectTV has credited my account, but i know the techs getting paid commission each time they come out.

Yeah, but the $30 he makes for the service call isn't always worth the repeat or case management getting involved
