Re: [GOLF] Ryder Cup thread
When it comes to a sport that normally is individual play, like tennis and golf or any other sport, major or minor, Americans when forced to play as a team are without a doubt the worse chokers and poorest team performers in the world.
In some sports even when we had the very best players in the world, like in men's tennis in years past we had a hard time getting the players to even be willing to participate. Then when they did even the then number one players in the world like Connors and McEnroe lost their opening matches to nobodies. They initially couldn't handle the pressure of playing for a team or someone other than just themselves. It truly is, with no insult intended, a cultural trait of the US.
Same in golf today. The US has the best individual players overall but when having to play together for a team as a team they just are not as tough mentally as players from other countries such as those that make up Europe. That's never going to change. Oh, we will win, but not very often.
