What a game. I can't believe Barry Zito just beat Justin Verlander in game 1 of the World Series. And Panda has joined Babe Ruth, Reggie Jackson and Albert Pujols in the history books. As a die-hard Giants fan, this is going to take some time to process.

Lol, hard to process, eh? I bet everyone was partying pretty hard. Winning game 1 is always awesome...you need 3 more in 6...shouldn't be as hard now.

Detroit pitcher Fister took a line drive to the noggin, but stayed in the game. Boy that had to hurt.

I hope he doesn't suffer some delayed injury that isn't apparent right now.

Ouch...

Do you remember when that Oakland pitcher took one back in September, was it?

I don't remember seeing it at the time, but just checking it out now, that was a brutal hit. He had brain surgery and missed the rest of the season. Video here:

Funny thing is, he was back to twittering a few days later. Guy has a pretty warped sense of humour. I like it.

Detroit pulls their starter and SF is making its move - bases loaded with no outs in the 7th. Detroit did well to only give up 1 run in the inning.

SF up 2-0. Need 3 outs in ninth to go up 2-0 in the series.

Detroit goes down in ninth 3 straight outs. Next game in Detroit on Saturday.

Good pitching by SF - only 2 hits by Detroit in the game.

Incredible pitching performance by Bumgarner, I still can't believe he's only 23. Loving the 2-0 game lead, but of course as the Giants themselves have proven a team can easily dig itself out of that hole.

Why? There's a whole host of pitchers who have been dominant at a young age. Doc Gooden won the Cy at 20. Kershaw was 23 when he won it last year. Hell, MadBum's own teammate won the Cy at 24.
