[DVR] Price of MR-DVR

In August, my bill went up like $7. It appears that VZ changed the price of my MR-DVR + 2 HD STBs "package" from $33 to $40. I just got off the phone with I guess the TV department and the CSR basically said, "I don't know why they (VZ) did that. They just told us (who's us???) that they were changing the equipment prices and gave us the new prices."

It's only $7, but it's kind of the principle that they can just change the pricing on the equipment at any time they want and not even give the customer notification.

What's up with that? Did any one else have their rate go up?

I missed the increase at first because my husband ordered VOD in August and September, so I missed the $7 increase in the noise of those purchases.

Only $7?!?!?! That is a 21% increase!!! That is a huge jump in price!

That's true, I guess it isn't "only $7." It's easy to let $7 get lost in the noise of a $200 TV/Phone/Internet bill.

I'm just trying to figure out who I complain to at VZ to at least make it known that this is crap.

There was a letter sent out last May. See this post »Re: STB rates going up , although the news was known and discussed earlier in March.

Hardware price increases were phased in in different locations and amounts. No one was spared. The only complaint you can effectively make is to vote with your wallet.

Thanks for posting that.

Mine actually went from $32.99 to $39.99, not the rates listed in the letter, but I guess that is the price for my area.

Sheesh. Seems absurd.

I bitched and moaned when my STD rate went to $40 a month as well. My total bill for just TV and internet(with taxes) was about $155 a month with the increase.

They gave me a "good customer" discount o $15 a month for one year.

I'm new to the MR-DVR option, which I just signed up for. But the pricing appears crazy and I wanted to check if anyone had knowledge of the expected practice. I'm seeing on my bill three items: Multi-Room DVR - High Definition...$19.99; HD Set Top Box Rental 4 @ $11.99...$47.96; Multi-Room DVR Package - 5 Room...$53.99. Thus, its roughly $120/mo for 5 sets. It seems like the package should include the equipment...anyone know if that is right?

Somehow they are double billing you. Your bill should just be the Multi-room DVR package of $53.99 for the equipment which does not include the price of your TV subscription.

About what I figured. I was seriously considering cancelling the whole thing if that were the case. Would they really expect takers with equipment costs more than the tv/internet service?

Contact Verizon right now about the double billing. It took four months of phone calls, video chat, and letters to corporate to convince Verizon that I only had one DVR and one set top box instead of seven. They kept giving me a credit every month but still billed me for seven units the next month.
