Bonding up and down ?

Hi all.

Just the other day had to install a new Zoom docsis 3 modem, the moto 6120 bit the dust, was under warranty and getting send a new one.

But I noticed that I was getting bonding up and down (2 blue lights), but just noticed only have the up bonding, rebooted both modem and router, and still no up bonding.

Anyone know why I'm all of a sudden not getting up ?

Panama City Knology.

I didn't think we had upstream bonding on the PC system. Maybe I should reboot my modem and see. Comcast on the other hand does have 2 channel upstream bonding here in PC.

Thanks all for the reply. Whats really weird is at my house (wife's puter) I noticed that both up and down blue lights where on.

When I replced my defective 6120 with the Zoom both lights also came on. When it rebooted for some reason the other day, only one blue came back on. So I went back to the house (just one street over) and both lights were on. I rebooted the modem and only one came back...lol

Is it possible they are experimenting with the up bonding ???

Roy

I can help with this... What you saw just a test that was never supposed to be implemented. It wasn't everywhere and drove the techs crazy for a half a day.

I believe that Knology / WOW won't bond upstream until they get rid of the VIOP voice ports (being replaced with eMTA's) . Maybe by the end of 2013 or mid 2014 they will have an idea. They are working on it now!

Was at a buddy of mines the other day who has Comcast with a new Zoom modem. He has 8 down 2 up bonding. However it's not being used so whats the point.

WTF is up with WOW they've done no re-branding of knology at all. Mean while Comcast is bombing my house with letters about it saying jump ship now.

How long can they milk dead tech with those voice ports?

Knology is stuck in limbo while WOW figures out what do I guess.

I'll have to agree Dusty. Here in PC (Cedar Grove), I get tons of Comcast flyers trying to tell me "the way it is".

Meanwhile, me, a loyal Knology sub since Dec 2000 gets nothing. I'm still on an expired 2008 phone/intenet pack since they have offered nothing better.

Every other day I get a mailing from Comcast (the anti-Christ) telling me how good they are. (although no Usenet, plus caps, etc...)

Why can't/won't Knology/WoW jump all over this this!

Sad.

Further testing needs to be done for upstream channel bonding. There were problems caused in testing, and we're working to come up with a solution. As far as upstream bandwidth goes, there's still plenty of room on each channel in most areas, so it's not something to be concerned with at this time. We are aware of your concern though, and this will be addressed as soon as we are able.

Hey guys, look give them a break WOW just spent 1.2 billion and still had to clean up knology's mess. It not like they buy and then throw a switch and all 13 systems are brand new. From what I hear they are spending tons of money in Pinellas, Knoxville, and some system north of Huntsville (Atthens I think) just to get them up to speed. I think they are trying to do TONS more than knology ever did. Although you may not see it in your system (I say by the end of 2nd qtr) some will see changes.

Dusty hang in there buddy I've never told you wrong...

Yes WOW has spent more money in pinellas then knology ever has.. Pinellas was running on equipment that was originally put in when the plant was built 18 years ago and WOW has already upgraded all of the CMTS for the internet and there is plenty more upgrades in the works for 2013. And as Jon doe said. They had to spend 1 and a half billion just to buy out knology and they already doing improvements all over. Plus taken care of issues in some cities that knology left behind on 911 fees.
And the rebranding of knology is coming. They have a date set and like Jon said they can't just turn a company with 13 divisions over night. It takes time and planning. But customers will see it soon...

Thank you pimpdaddypat I think knology left a bad taste in some's mouths. But I feel WOW is trying to change that. You don't have get so many JDpower awards without doing something right.

Yes plus be rated number 1 cable operator in all 3 services in consumer reports... You can't buy that award... So your right they must be doing something right..

The funny thing is now they aren't going to brag anymore about the J.D power awards.. I hope knology didn't tarnish them from that label..
