Re: Looks like Telus is Jacking their prices again for TV/Phone.

My phone modem also has a battery backup in it so I still have telephone service even if the power goes out. I pay $10 per month for my phone(LnR deal).

So your saying that Shaw like Telus does not require Hydro power for home phone .
They both work independently ?

Telus style PSTN will run as long as the CO equip has generator/battery backup. Shaw will run as long as the modem's battery and all their active components have battery/generator backup.

Then again, people like me who use cordless handsets... well you are S.O.o.L as soon as the power cuts out... :P I don't have a wired handset on the premises anymore. I'm not going to stick a UPS where the base station is right now either.
