Re: Cheap router for 598U, any reason for me to go expensive? ICS is great, but you will be having your PC as the middle man, which could increase latency, and reduce available bandwidth if you have programs running in the background. Java, Flash, Automatic Program Updates, Windows Updates, ...etc. These will occasionally overtime use your connection, which is not an issue unless you want to make sure time intensive tasks like gaming, VoIP have a steady latency with out any spikes. Plus, you would have to have the PC on all the time.
It makes sense to just buy a Router, in your price range just go for a TP-Link 3G/4G Wireless router. This is the one I have - »www.ebay.com/itm/TP-LINK-TL-MR32···0d3d1d43
My only issue with it, is when I bought the router it said the 598U by Sierra Wireless was supported and not ISP specific. I use it fine with my 598U with the default firmware on it. Their latest firmware update for some reason makes it so the 598U no longer connects, I brought the issue up with them, they were no help. |
