I am currently running the Consumer Preview on my laptop and I've come to really like it. You now boot right to the stuff you use the most and the old desktop is one click away. From the desktop, everything is pretty much like Win 7, except no Start menu. I also like the new File menu system with cut copy paste ect. Lots of little improvements.
I will be putting it on all of my machines soon. |

Nope - I need to get Win 7 Pro and have XP mode to play games that really work better with XP. FS X takes a bit of tinkering to get working on Win 7 and my wife has some teaching software that works better with XP.

Windows 8 is an abomination.
Nothing of it looks professional, or scientific. Looks like one large tablet OS.
Forcing all this large graphics in your face, and trying to turn everything into an APP like smartphones.
OS for retards
Ubuntu is better than this trash... FFS... I hope open source software crucifies microsoft ultimately
if I could run ONLY ubuntu and open office, I would... but the games... blast! |

College Station, TX | Ubuntu used to be cool, but they changed something, and now it runs like crap on Virtual Box. I had to move over to OpenSUSE.
When you said Windows 8 was an abomination, it made me think about Underworld, when Victor refers to the blending of the vampire (computer) and werewolf (tablet) species as an "Abomination." |

College Station, TX | I actually have tons of Google and MS stock. I dropped all my Apple stock. The price of the stock was going up, but I couldn't stand Steve Jobs. Some people say it was a stupid thing to do but I really don't care.
I think Windows 8 will be a success. Yes, some people will have trouble understanding it but I caught on pretty quick. So, we will just have to take the "wait and see approach." |

Good point TheThing, I stand by this very proudly, the world no days is nothing but one large mobile/tablet internet connecting device and theres no turning back now cause its the future and alot of folks out there on the streets think its cool and its a huge upgrade since computers came into this world (witch it is) but imo tablets and all these other devices are NOT the way to go.

Why, on a regular desktop, with screens ranging from 20+inches to multiple screens would one forces applications to run full screen? What is the advantage in having touch capability on screen that sit at arm length or more of the user? Windows 8 start the process of locking the desktop to whatever app (yea, that is another issue too ... app) is on somebody's official approved list, a la Apple (which I also despise). This process also reduce the choices that I, the consumer, can use configure my information environment. Aren't we learning enough already from the disaster that is commonality across platforms? Look at the capabilities and usabilities that have been lost with the *commonality* of having games ported over from the consoles to the desktop, or the lack of functionality of games made on desktop computers but made to be ported onto consoles. Windows 8 will not help whatsoever in progressing exceptional gaming capabilities for the future. |

Probably some idiot wanting to get ripped off and run all out of money cause they spent so much on it to find out whats wrong with there computer in the future 
I know of some people that have alot of software on there computer(s) that it eats up there cpu to where its as slow as a celeron proccessor with 512KB of ram
