Re: IPTV Cannnels said by jeffreydean1:said by Acanac Inc:"I m not really offended by that. I think that what you presently do has more in common with marketing your present existing service than a realistic launching of IPTV in the near future, but I honestly have no proof and, even if I were right, it s not something that I d really consider scandalous in any way."
So let me get this straight.
1. We apply for our BDU license about one year ago. 2. We sign agreements with one of the largest middleware companies in the world. Let me tell you this is not cheap. (NDA) 3. We spend hundreds of thousands on encoding equipment. Soon to be in the millions. 4. We purchase 1000 STB's and another 3000 on the way.
Almost every waking moment the IPTV launch is on my mind and it's all for a marketing ploy?
I have talking about IPTV service going as far back as 2006. Rocky and I even had a disagreement regarding the feasibility of such of service on a Unicast platform in these very forums.
I am just about to prove him wrong. Pwned Nice. LOL.... Get off the ground and soar for a bit before you claim you can fly to dispute the nay sayers!
On a similar vein; if you wait long enough and let technology evolve enough, eventually everyone will be proven wrong! (Ie: Gates with the "640K ought to be enough for anybody!" quote) -- TSI Rocky - TekSavvy Co-Owner For on the fly news/updates: tsirocky on twitter |

Same as first year? Thank you for your interest. The 30Mbps plan is not a promo. It would cost the same as the first year. |

 | reply to JGROCKY You do have a point. On a purely 5Mbps service the challenges would be a lot greater. Your also correct that allot of the current technology simply did not exist back in the day.
I hope you did not take it the wrong way. In fact I looked up to you over the years. TSI was one of the reasons we even entered the High Speed Internet market. |

Thanks Since the client has not posted the ping results here is a quick test to youtube. The ping rates are low since it's going through Torix at 151 front street. If your doing it over DSL or Cable you can add at least another 10-20ms depending how far you are from our POP.
This test was done from the office located in Mississauga.

 | Here are the ping results from my home taken at 8:30PM. It's on a 28Mbps Cable connection. I would do a speed test however I currently have 3 IPTV STB on.

 | Hi, Thanks your testing.
One thing is your testing from ON and I live in Montreal.
This client said "I was happy to see 31.5Mbps / 3.1Mbps but told to myself : They advertise lower speed on the evening, like 50% speed. In the evening, I did couple of tests, and it was still at 30-31Mbps!" I want to know the speed get limited or not in Montreal.
Thanks again for you testing. |

Thanks again for you testing. It is limited only when there's congestion. I've seen it only once a Sunday afternoon when it was rainy going down to about 22mbps while ping was 7-8ms instead of 5-6. Otherwise, 31.3 down, 3.1 up all the time so far, even at 10pm. Other factors can influence your speed like a congested node. For instance, I'm not at all on a congested node here in Verdun.
