Power outages here are rare, and most of the time it's either because a house is on fire (so they cut part of a grid) or a transformer was hit by lightning (Very localized outages so they are quick to fix).
Ask anyone from the Montreal area, we had no action since the 1998 ice storm. I can't recall a non-winter storm that caused major outages. I did have no power for 36 hours during Irene, but that was only my little section of the street. Everyone else had power.
