Just talked to Frontier support:

Stephanie: We have multiple issues with the internet right now, affecting multiple states. Information is very limited at this time, it only started in the last 30 minutes.

No, it's more widespread than that.

Back up, I'm on FiOS in Indiana, netflix and dslreports was done last night. Luckily that's the first time ever I can remember having this problem since I've been on FiOS.

Re: This sucks Frontier DSL Internet is down AGAIN!!

Down in Medina, Ohio on Thursday 10/25/2012 all night after I 6:00pm and still not up this morning!!! For me Frontier DSL is constantly full outage hours at a time, or at the very least weekly intermittent outages for me even with new line and hardware!! Frontier needs to FIX their infrastructure!! Used to never have these issues when it was Verizon!!

Re: This sucks Frontier inet is down

TW Telecom != Time Warner.

I had some routing issues with my DSL connection but is online this morning. What I saw was an inability to route, or very slow connectivity. I wonder what broke. I go through Rochester no matter what. Key links or routers bouncing, invalid routing announcements come to the routers, or did the traffic on the network finally cook some hardware to death

Another down report in Michigan.

said by jman_131:

I've been running a continuous ping, it has a droprate of 70-90 percent

For Frontier that's an improvement.

Seriously though I get enough packet loss at all times to get Page Not Found errors throughout the day. Continuous connections like file transfers never get cut off but new connections are routinely rejected, only to succeed on retry. DNS seems to be the worst which confuses the natives so I installed a caching DNS controller which makes most of the problem invisible.

I've switched DNS servers, done a lot of ping tests, and equipment changes so I'm reasonably sure it's in their network, not mine.

I was having issues late last night trying to reach this site as well as eztv.it for about an hour right before I went to bed.

This may not be a Frontier-specific problem. According to Internet Traffic Report, North America is having some rather severe packet routing problems: »internettrafficreport.com/namerica.htm

Well, none of those graphs show the problem we were experiencing about 12 - 13 hours ago...

For some of us it is still a problem. Connections last about 45 seconds and drop.

I just talked to the Frontier NOC and they said they were having peering issues over in Ashburne, VA that was causiing traffic to go into a "black hole" (?). They claimed it was resolved last night @ 11:30 PM....If Hank is still having issues, then I guess maybe some traceroutes might be needed ??

It appears that the problem is between Romney and Ashburn, but can't tell for certain as the connection continues to drop.

Update: Looks like things have finally settled down here and now appear to be stable.

makes perfect sense according to the tracerts i ran last night, didn't save any of them, but I was getting out of WV just fine and hung up on that server. It also appeared to be fixed about that time.

Trace complete.

Not saying that there is no problem, but a trace route to 'rit.edu' from outside of Frontier is also timing out, so it is likely that this particular destination is refusing to respond to diagnostic packets.

I traced allso and yes the primary dns name times out can't remeber if I ever did trace or ping from cmd window to rit.edu but I did use it in a trace programm awhile ago several months and it did allways respond then. Anyway we all now know that the outage was big and affected alot of people in diferent ways.
