The local CT NBC affiliate: I've always found them to be into the "alarm, ALARM, A-LARM!" news mentality, and tonight they certainly painted a very worrisome, emergency picture.

They are saying that CT is going to be on the dirty, top/left side of the storm, where there is the worst wind and the sea surge is going to push up the Long Island Sound and tides may be high on top of that, due to full moon. It all sounds very dire.

I don't know, maybe outside of the shorline and river bottom land, maybe it won't be so bad. Until this morning, when the weatherman was answering facebook questions on TV, I was under the impression that there was going to be snow precip, so I was very concerned because the trees still have a lot of their leaves and that means a LOT of powerlines down, but he said it won't snow, nice of him to tell us that!

In any event, my gut is that it won't be as dire as they are making it out to be, but I suspect that I might lose power for a day or two (I am in the heart of the city near emergency services, the fact that I hear endless sirens night and day might pay off since they will probably rush to get power here.

Now I'm just waiting for a clown photo of the storm, Giz!

NYC: subway, buses, and rail shuts down at 7 pm; mandatory evacs of low areas. NJTransit and PATH to shut down at midnight, and airports likely to follow.

So.....apparently there is no milk,bread or Chef Boyardee products left in the state of Connecticut! Not that I personally went looking or actually need any of those things but thats the word. My storm prep was done yesterday which amounted to putting away anything that could blow into the house,and doing my usual grocery shop. Not raining or anything yet,but a bit windy. I guess its supposed to get worse later but otherwise a pretty normal Sunday. Not sure what all the panic is about but the road is overly busy today and was told downtown should be avoided as the roads and stores are mobbed. Ho hummmmm.....

On a little more serious note, I've set all my fah clients to complete the current units and then shutdown. I'm hoping to be able to shutdown the computers in the morning before we lose power and the ups's kick in.
