Atlantic City boardwalk has gone to sea. Everyone there either "hunkered down" or evacuated.

They're also liable to shut off electric there, as a preempt in case of flooding causing yet more damage.

I had to run to the store and do my emergency hurricane shopping. I had forgotten and had NO food.

I just heard something about shutting the power off. This is dreadful.

Power is still out and cable also. Tethered the phone so I have me some interwebz. Big tree across the road which is apparently the culprit. Overall we made out fine and much better than some of those down at the shore where apparently its a real mess. Keep those folks in your thoughts today as they begin to pick up the pieces.

Thanks for being clever, so we can hear from you. The news reports have been frightening to say the least.

This storm will definitely be a huge exclamation point in U.S. weather history.

Hope all the others are ok, too. I really feel for those without power and no backup. It is miserable being cold and in the dark.

Mark here, checking in! Lost power and cable/internet and phone yesterday not long after disconnecting the stuff.

Folks, I have to say, the wind was so hard up here on this hill that it sounded like a freight train (for real, just like the sound when a freight train accelerates from slow) was coming through the wall. Water was seeping THROUGH the wall from outside, some of my drywall was wet.

I went through Alicia in TX, and in some ways, it was worse but in a way, this was worse, the building I'm in just isn't too sturdy.

Alain's aunt lives in NJ near Wayne, we are worried because we can't reach her. Alain was pretty concerned about us here because it was on the news there in Cebu.

Bad storm. I hope they're wrong and this isn't how it will be from now on...

Thanks Squirt. My ISP, a cableco, is also my telco, and calling with that line to her doesn't work very well, whereas a VOIP service does. I also have a monthly service, and she hasn't gotten the Sim for it yet. She's ok, but no longer working as a caretaker, it turns out her and her son were going through some unpleasant stuff and we had to get her out of there.
