Re: I'm a criminal, huh? Good thing the DMCA is not a real law, I say violate it at will because it is not wrong to do so.
Ripping a DVD/Blu-Ray is not wrong and never has been and never will be. Posting it to the internet afterwards always will be illegal and that is covered by copyright law on its own. Dumping to to my multiple terabyte media server is my right to do. If I buy the disc I can do with it as I pleases as long as I do not offer copies to the public.(Well offer them without paying royalties to the IP owner.) -- [65 Arcanist]Filan(High Elf) Zone: Broadband Reports |

Well, OK, but I would ask that you acknowledge that this is your opinion of what the laws should be, rather than what they actually are.
It is simply untrue that ripping DVDs and copying them is not illegal under the copyright law. It has always been a violation to do this, ever since DVDs were first made available. You may not LIKE this, but recognize the reality, OK? |

Unfortunately, our broken system allows for bad laws to remain on the books unless challenged, even those that are blatantly absurd or unconstitutional. And then they can only be challenged by those that are directly affected by such laws. |
