Could super hurricane Sandy bring down service?

I remember in the early days of dw* that NOC was in Delaware and weather outages occasionally occurred. Have they decentralized? And could a big storm like Sandy bring current service to a prolonged outage?

..any info thanks up front

Hughes has four NOCs; Germantown Maryland (USA), Griesheim (Germany), São Paolo (Brazil), and Gurgaon (India). You're probably thinking of Germantown. And yes, in the old days everybody in the US was connected through Germantown. But with the expansion into Ka-band, you could be connected to any of several new gateways scattered throughout the US. So given the info you provided, the only answers at the moment are - yes, and maybe.
