Sandy, I don't fear you!

Well maybe just a little
I’ll hold off as long as I can in keep my pc’s running. But my area has been known for power outages the last few years. So I might have to turn off the computers as a precaution.
Is anyone going to be affected by Sandy?

Tuesday is supposed to be the most dangerous day and might extend into early Wednesday.
Hope it's not as bad as predicted.
Take care, y'all!

All transit has been cut off, no NJ Transit, No Subway service, schools are already closed. So looks like at least one day if not more with the kids.

Pretty crazy here last night. We had sirens going off and people moved to higher ground from a Tsunami Warning.
First time we ever went thur that and the kids were scared to death.

We'll be ok here, but my hillbillies look to get a few feet of snow from Sandy... I can't ever recall a hurricane dropping snow before, and it just doesn't seem right...

We live in Oceanside NY, about 1 mile from the south shore (Long Beach). In all the time we have been here there has been no major flooding. Although the towns like Freeport (mile to the east) get hammered by every storm. I grew up in Far Rockaway and in 1960 during hurricane Donna the Bay met the Ocean (that was pretty bad). If half of what they are predicting is accurate this is really going to be bad. To all of you in harms way Gods Speed and stay safe!

Who would have thought New York City would get a hurricane?
The storm is barreling towards the Jersey Coastline right now.
Beach and low lying areas will get the most damage.
Rain and whipping wind here but worst is yet to come.

What fun!

Went through a part of Fairlawn yesterday, while negotiating my way north and out from Hoboken.

Majority of us are still in the dark. My in-laws live half a mile from me and have not been affected at all. First two night we slept in the dark cold house, since then we have basically moved in with them. It's funny how this 10 year old lap top saves me again in keeping in touch.

Gas is a real challenge around here and people are going to extreme measures. I cross my fingers and hope things will start to shortly get back to normal.

This morning, my sister and law and I got up at 4:30 in order to get to grandfather who is 85 and lives in Brooklyn, not a pretty picture there at all. We got up that early because to get into Manhattan there is a 3 person restriction and so we had to get into the city before 6AM. It was a very successful trip, he is now here and in the warm as well as all the other comforts that come with electricity.

I cross my fingers and wish for the best, been off of work this entire week and come Monday I'll try to make my way into work and see what is going on there. That in itself will not be a fun trip as the subways are still in shambles....

In any regards, I feel very fortunate. I know many others around these areas that are really struggling at this point.

I think Lisa mentioned that the stats page might be down. Since it's my turn to post stats, I can tell you that the stats page is indeed down now.

Stats are hosted on Brian's server. I don't want to make assumptions, but I believe where Brian lives got hit very hard. We must wait for Brian to log on and let us know how he is and what is going on.
