Unless I am mistaken, the devices you pointed out are to adapt a thread on a camera to a different kind on something fixed like a tripod with screw or a quick release plate.

Although a 3/8 to 1/4 adapter sounds like it should work, I am convinced the torque while panning will loosen up the adapter. If there was a locknut involved, it would not loosen up.
