Secret Service Asks Americans to Report Tweetsquote: The Secret Service has expanded its operation to Twitter, urging Americans to report on their fellow citizens whose tweets concern you.
» cnsnews.com/news/article ··· cern-youFunny, I'd have thought Bob would pass them on as a matter of course. |

This one made me wince quote: I hear there is a sale on hookers and cocaine in Columbia. This of course is time sensitive AND critical info for agents.

Now I can't believe that the Secret Service doesn't have tools to monitor Twitter, I do. Its one of my demo devices from my Gadgeteer presentation tomorrow night. Every time someone tweets something with the word 'Gadgeteer' in it, the device updates its LED display (ya its just a demo device, but it gets the full message and information so I could do whatever I like with it, including dispatching the dark suits). So likely if you were to report something, they would likely already be all over it, but good to have that second level. Blake |

I hope there's a countdown timer in that lot somewhere. That'd be sure to get a reaction Especially if something beeps rapidly when the count goes under 60. |

That'd be sure to get a reaction There is pretty much everything around here and then some (including project boards I can't take pictures of). Gadgeteer gets pretty addictive as you can build anything with it rather quickly, including security devices that no hacker ever thought someone would be using . Gadgeteer is simply a device prototyping tool on major steroids. Blake |

I used to build my own stuff decades ago. Today it's all in kit form--just buy the Leggo blocks and plug em together. Of course just having that stuff gets you a special place in Bob's databases |

Americans in the past were raised to mind their own business, and a rat was a terrible thing. This was prevalent in the old Eastern bloc, however. Used to see it a lot in East Germany, hard to believe we're doing it here now. |

I guess the next step is to make not being a twit an Un-American activity? I have lived long enough to have seen much history repeat itself, so perhaps this will become the next incarnation of the Un-American Activities Committee (except this time operated by the Secret Service instead of the House). |

People report anyway there is no need to ask, but to urge people is only few steps away before encouraging them to report on everything else (true or false then becomes irrelevant). That never brought any good

This was prevalent in the old Eastern bloc, however. Used to see it a lot in East Germany, hard to believe we're doing it here now. I saw a series of private tweets about setting off a dirty bomb in the land of big. The tweets talked about how they had acquired an amazing amount of radioactive material from the Eastern bloc and were just working on getting a big enough truck to haul it to the detonation point. Of course I don't want to be a RAT and tell anyone, but would you mine putting me down as the beneficiary of your life insurance policy? Blake |

That's the land of big hair to you - I just ran out of letters.
And is there any such thing as a private tweet when it comes to the government? |

Of course just having that stuff gets you a special place in Bob's databases Then my old 200 in 1 electronics kit/board from my school days would suggest "activities worth monitoring"? Sheesh....... my new favorite word. |

They don't have enough agents to investigate the thousands of threats on twitter. Twitter has effectively removed the last of any internal filters this latest generation had left.

quote: Metal detectors and luggage scans arent the only way U.S. Customs and Border Protection identifies national security threats. The agency also keeps close tabs on social-media sites, and it allegedly detained two British tourists after a questionable Twitter conversation, according to British newspapers.
British Tourists Tweets Get Them Denied Entry to the U.S.That's ok. I'm sure only foreigners tweets are monitored. Bob doesn't care about those in the US. |
