Ping results\Security Software

I have had this out in another DSL Forum and no one has provided a reply (seems that forum is not very active). Hoping in this forum someone will provide some info....

POSTING:

Ping results using 2 Different Security Softwares.....
Is there an explanation even I could understand? Service is cable 40/5. With Trend Micro Internet Security Installed I ping as high as 237 to a selected site. if I uninstall Trend Micro and Install Microsoft Essentials my Ping to the same site is 10 or lower.

Can Security Software make this difference? and..why?

Broad brush: Usually not. It is a glitch in the program, the program is not setup correctly, or it does not play well with certain OS's. Or the program is trash.

Is your version of Trend Micro on a Dell box?

If the above does not apply to you, I would call Trend Micro Support and see if they have an answer.
