Reliability of cellular infrastructure in Hurricane

The last time I lost a cellular signal at my house was back in the GSM days and an oversubscribed tower would flash a message on my phone saying 911 only.

So I am just wondering if the Connecticut infrastructure is good. I imagine that most towers have backup generators but some may need fiber on telephone poles to get on the network instead of RF links. If lines go down the tower may become inoperable.

What has your experience been?

Last time the power went out I had service one area but not in another area because of no backup power.

Att voice is working data craps out more often than not. Uverse is down. Don't know about POTS, but they didn't install generators 24 hrs later. Either they have power or service is down anyway so they didn't bother to try to keep it up.

POTS service was designed over 100 years ago, and doesn't use the commercial power grid. There are banks of batteries at the CO. That's where to look for a generator.

Actually today's lines only go to the concentrator, not all the way to the co..
