Re: Question on phone wiring pricing

You'll need scafolding. 2 people need to be up, one at each end of the piece of conduit to hang it in J hooks. You don't want to be lifting lengths of PVC conduit by yourself 15' up on a stepladder.

How long are the pieces of PVC? 10 feet? 20 feet? You need to get up and down the ladder to hang a J hook every 4 feet or so. Then hang a piece of PVC, pull a string through, glue a joint, hang another piece, pull the string, and so forth.

We are using 10' sections of EMT conduit, but not using j hooks, we are using straps and a back spacer to secure it.

Not really...one person can do it, on a ladder, with a rotohammer.

That's a good way to get the string glued into the pipe...

The most powerful weapon in the world is ignorance. Politicians exploit it to achieve almost anything they want.

Well really depends how over board you want to go and never have to deal with it again.

Really no reason for sheltered above ground conduit, unless you want to NEVER go to that extreme again.

I hate to say it but, this thread seems to be a good compilation of unskilled persons sharing incorrect advice with each other; at least some of it including advice that would not be code-compliant. The description of the job and how it will be carried out, sounds like a great opportunity for an unlicensed & uninsured 'contractor' to end up involved in a lawsuit or legal trouble. Not worth it, IMHO.
