| I read a few permissions some of the apps were asking for, and it's kinda "WTH. is going on"
I either didn't pay that much attention to what apps were accessing on the Ipad, or there wasn't a "warning" about what they'd be accessing, like there is with Android. -- Is a person a failure for doing nothing? Or is he a failure for trying, and not succeeding at what he is attempting to do? What did you fail at today?. |

JuggernautIrreverent or irrelevant?Premium join:2006-09-05 Kelowna, BC kudos:2 | It is, but I would have to root to use it. I just couldn't be bothered, as I don't use custom ROM's at all. So far. -- I'm not anti-social, I just don't like stupid people. |

| Root, and using custom ROMs are different things. You don't need to use a custom ROM to have root. And you don't need to root to install a custom ROM.
There are many great apps that can be used once you have root. A permissions blocker is one. |
|
 | None of those additions are very interesting. What did they do about storage, ease of configuration and battery life? |
|
navyson join:2011-07-15 Upper Marlboro, MD | Battery Life?
Many solutions to that. Many phones can be used with an extended battery(I have an extended battery with my Motorola Bionic and my phone does last the entire day) or get a phone such as the Driod Razor Maxx HD with its 3,300mAh battery was good for 18 hours and 51 minutes of talk time |

My NS goes for 2 and a half days on the stock 1500mAh battery. Wow! -- I'm not anti-social, I just don't like stupid people. |

I either didn't pay that much attention to what apps were accessing on the Ipad, or there wasn't a "warning" about what they'd be accessing, like there is with Android. Well of course not... the last thing Apple wants is for their users to know what nefarious things they and their software are up too.
But you can be sure that apps common to both platforms are doing the same things, just Apple doesn't tell you so you can't decide if you want that or not.
There have been a good number of Android Apps I have chosen not to install or update because of added new permissions for things I don't care about. For instance an ads support game really needs no permissions beyond net access for the ads, but some have astounding permissions, clearly for data mining.
And to be fair M$ is just as bad about not telling you what software is up too, or potentially enabled to. --

(youtube clip) Except for game play pretty much do all that already via ROKU with the JUICE APP and no crazy permissions. Which has the added feature you can still use the phone/tab for other things while its streaming. --

Miracast support will be available in built in most TVs released in 2013. Also, MiraCast is similar to WiFi Direct. It means you dont need any router or WiFi to use Miracast. |

I find it interesting that nothing on the google play website mentions anything about Miracast Wireless Display in the specs info for the nexus 10. |
