Halfmoon, NY | [Need Info] Cell phone battery life need opinion. My Sprint contract is up next month and I will be getting a new phone.
I am an advanced user and part of my job is software architecture designs for mobile apps (internal field users). I root all my phones, for some code that we run, but ROMs are stock. IOS and Android 4.0 is what we push.
Since I'll be getting a new phone I wanted to know what phones have the best battery life.
I have access to a half dozen phones here but never am able to day to day test them. My phone is an EVO 3D. Our field users have Droid MAXX for the battery life, but I want to stick with Sprint or go GSM because of my travel needs.
I am not a zealot of apple or google, I work with both and honestly either eco system is fine by me. Apple has the advantage of being able to be a world phone, but aside from that no real care.
All I care about is battery life, I have all the external chargers and packs at my disposal, by for my personal use dont want to carry them around.

Purchased a 3500mah battery & a deeper rear cover to house the battery.
This doubled the amount of battery life.
Dependant upon the options enabled that will impact battery life; 3g or 4g, gyro, Gps, display brightness, alarms/loudness, time for display going to standby ,hours of talking, and exra Apps you are running.
If you shop by battery rating, expressed in milliamp hours, (mah), rated hours of talk time, that will make you a better comparative shopper. | |

Yeah I have all the extra battery accessories here, but I don't want to use them, this is just for my personal phone, not work phone. I know S3 has good reviews and iPhone 5 does as well, but I was hoping for maybe a 3rd option. --

The Droid Razr Maxx and its replacement the Razr HD Maxx would be your best bet if battery life is your #1 concern. I believe they have 3300 mAh batteries, which is the largest capacity stock battery of any smartphone. If you want to say with Sprint, I have the Evo LTE, which has a 2000 mAh battery and I’m pretty impressed by the battery life. Light to moderate usage, with wifi off, Bluetooth off most of the time, unless I’m wearing my watch, GPS On, and brightness at near max will give me a full 24-36 hours on one charge if I push it. I think I maxed it out at 34 hours before plugging it in at about 5% battery life remaining. But I live in an area with poor cell coverage, I called Sprint and got myself a free Airave since the last time I did that experiment, so now I have a good strong signal instead of borderline service that is constantly cycling between native 1X, native EVDO and roaming. Between having a better signal and toning down the brightness (which is a shame, since the Evo LTE and the One X have hands down the best smartphone displays I have ever seen) I probably can get upwards of 40 hours out of the thing, if I tried.
