This one is where the answering machine picks up and records part of an automated message "please hang up and try your call again".
I've heard them from time to time as well. I think it's either a robocall gone awry (automated call coming in expecting a button press 1 for more details),
or one of those pbx autoforwarding calls that let the caller connect locally then dial out from the same system. »
