Re: Disney is buying lucasfilm, starwars 7 comes out in 2015.

the BSG reboot was epic, if not true to the story.

So all thats left for Disney to buy are the rights to He-Man, Transformers, Thundercats, and G.I.Joe and Disney will effectively own my childhood.

Don't forget Bionic Six, SilverHawks, She-Ra, and Heathcliff.

Anything is better than Lucas.

At least Disney doesn't have a habit of re-re-releasing the same movie and constantly 'updating' the story.

They just re-release the same movie, period.

In all seriousness, if anyone has to buy this franchise out, I'll let Disney do it. When people look through the list of movies Disney actually puts out, you would be pleasantly surprised to see many of people's favorites that AREN'T cartoons are owned by Disney.

I heard on the radio this morning that Disney plans on bringing out a new Star Wars movie every two years for as long as people will keep going to see them.

I know Disney has the ability to make 7-9 better than 1-3, though I have fears they also have the ability to make it worse. First reaction to seeing Disney buying LucasArts and wanting to make new SW movies was "Oh sh*t....."

AWSOME

I've been waiting for Ep7-9 since 2001 when a friend that read the books told me about them.

Oh please god dont say that too loud. After about the fifth script and a chance watch of the reboot star trek movie this may sound like a good idea...

I’m sorry did I read that right? Did you say after a fifth of tequila the star trek reboot movie seemed like a halfway good idea,……? I wouldn’t know I don’t drink

so a bunch of girls get to be happy that now leia is a Disney Princess, and can now show up in once upon a time.

Disney did a fantastic job with the Pirates movies IMO so why not?

I don't understand all the butthurt about Ep 1-3. They were enjoyable to watch, though not classics. Same deal with pretty much every other blockbuster special effects movie I've seen in the last two decades.

I welcome our new Disney overlords with open arms.

Drew, I have to agree with you. All I ever expect from any movie is to be entertained, and all 3 were.

As for a new SW movie every 2 years, hmm....

And here I was just googling 'episode 7' three days ago... Reading all of the comments from Lucas how it was 'never going to happen'. And now this happens!

I was only kidding about the blasphemy comment.

My feeling is that Lucus was sitting on the franchise and doing nothing relevant with it. If anything he would just go back and much it up. Just about anything would have to be better then that.

As for the Princesses, yeah, give them whatever they want,…

It was official, when 1-3 were "officially" announced so were 7-9.

George just got burned with the flame wars over 1-3 so he scrapped 7-9, even though he had the books already.

No, it was never announced.

George Lucas said he is ending it with 6 movies because he wanted to end it with Luke and Anakin's story. He never really did know what he wanted to do with the franchise.

Just because George Lucas talked about it 30 years ago does not make it official. That is not how it works.

Well, according to the USA today article episode 7, 8, 9 and possibly beyond sound fairly official now so,………

quote:
Disney expects to more aggressively expand the Star Wars film schedule, Iger said in a statement. Following the release of Episode VII in 2015, "our long term plan is to release a new Star Wars feature film every two to three years," Iger said.
Star Wars Episodes VIII and IX, Iger said, would follow "probably on a cadence of every other year and then go from there. . . . The (first) film is in early stage development right now."

Moore's BSG is one of the finest sci-fi series that has ever existed, and I'm not saying that lightly.

They should do something based on "Legacy of the Force" Series. It is set 40 years after the destruction of the first Death Star so Luke, Han and Leia would be the right ages to bring the original actors back.

Considering what Lucas has done to the franchise, Disney can't do worse.
