Re: [Raiding] Heart of Fear (or Entomology: A Love Affair)

I'm trying to decide if we should work on Elegon or Zor'lok tonight. It seems like Zor'lok isn't nearly as involved as Elegon but since we haven't tried either I'm not sure.

Any advice/opinions?

Zor'lok is far far easier than Elegon. The only "hard part" is Force and Verve, and that just means competent use of healing CDs.

actually, the hardest part is when you get an Convert (Mind Control) into a Force and Verve and the guys are out of position.

From personally checking all of 30 seconds ago, either clearing LFR counts, or no such limitation is in effect.

Only req for HoF is be in a raid group from a single server.

ToES you must have completed HoF.

I did the first half of HoF this morning, one shot on everything thanks to an awesome group, the fights are a lot of fun but there is not a lot to do at least for tanks on LFR.

First boss intercept the exhale, second boss taunt on the assault and third boss does not need a tank.

One thing I found is that I suck at dodging tornadoes on the gauntlet phase on the second boss.

180k wipe on Zor'lok last night :\ The bear tank was the only one alive from 3mil and he enraged.

This fight is just full of dick moves.

Convert the paladin -> HoJ the tank (because it came off CD about 4 seconds after Convert hit) -> one shots two DPS

Another attempt:
MC two healers, blow all their cooldowns -> Force and Verve

EDIT: to clarify, if the tank is incapacitated on that fight, he starts meleeing whoever else is close.

People should be broken out of the MC in 4 seconds.. Also the HoJ is dispelable.

Yeah, I guess I got to get on people more on dispelling. One guy is good about it, but if he has to dispel a warlock fear, the HoJ target will sit there looking pretty.

Also, breaking people out in 4s seems hard. I know if I get MC'd I'm blowing Die by the Sword nearly every time (which I was sandbagging for F&V usage), which would make it hard to kill me in 4 seconds.

at least it doesn't know how to equip a shield and shield wall :\

I guess we can probably do with some better grouping in that phase. Ranged and healers are roughly in front of the tank, but no reason they can't be on top of each other. Melee are loosely spread behind in case of Exhale.

Do like we did...kill him before he can cast convert.

I did like the attempts that went Convert -> Exhale. Those are like a vacation in the tropics.

And Zor'lok down! No converts directly into F&V = fun times!

Also elegon! kill 4 orbs and not have people at half health going into the last phase helps.

Zor'lok down last night - 100% agree that Mind Control into Force and Verve (or even sometimes into Attenuation) are #2 killers. (Our #1 was a few people just being inexplicably bad at not getting hit by disks).

Couple tips, hope they help:
1. On the pull, have the raid stack and on the tank's count-down pop a group movement speed on 'one'. Saves a lotta time getting to 1st platform.
2. Try to use group move speed buff (such as stampeding roar) if going all the way across the room. Symbiosis on a fury warrior grants them this ability too.
3. Blow your fear's early on the MC platform and final phase. Nothing worse than not saving a MC target because they AOE feared the raid.
4. Use DPS cooldowns as required to only get 2 Force and Verves on the platform phase.
5. Immediate CC on mind controlled targets is critical. Losing a 3m healing cooldown WILL cause wipes to F&V. (Thank god my arena partner had a fast stun on me when I was MC'd as a super-boomkin with all 3m cooldowns & starfall popped, haha)
6. Never assume he'll transition right at an even 80/60/40%. We got wrecked once with a 3rd F&V at 57% since we'd all moved to stairs to transition.

For the record, Force and Verve seems to have taken a stealth nerf in 10m at least. Average ticks of 65k down to 50k (under bubbles). It felt far more trivial than our first kill last week.

Attentuation and MC are the same.

1 shotted him easily, everybody knows the attenuation dance now, easy going in circles around boss and win.

5 attempts on Boss #2, the key is to go to phase 2 fast, everybody waits to be healed up before running the tornado alley, use a lock stone if getting low, get to boss, at 11% dot him up and start running to the other end, burn and voila!

I lost count of how many got caught by nados.. as rogue feint rules here for 50% dmg reduction.. although I can't recup or poison leech when I don't have anything to hit.. I time to have my recuperate at 5 points before the 20% transition, while trapped you can't do anything..

Run to the other end at 11%??? You mean ride the slip stream on the outside back to the other end..

I ran, they said that that "slipstream" on the edges does a lot of damage in top of the aoe you are already receiving.. perhaps a pally with bubble and other classes could..

probably... as long as the pulled target is free of tornadoes when the spell is cast.

Might be a pro tip for any priest to make it up there, be aware to pull others up.

maybe. since that would require turning around because the target of the LeapofFaith needs to be in front of the player... I'm tempted to say "only if you are pulling in melee dps".
