[Speed Problem] ADSL speed fluctuating and slow
Hello, long time customer of AT&T ADSL here. I'm on the elite plan (6mbps down/768 up) along with a 2wire 2701HG-B Gateway that I've also had for a few years functioning as my modem and router simultaneously. I also have a few wireless computers and devices on the connection.
My download and upload speeds have been fluctuating and sluggish for about a week now. I've seen at max around 3000kbps download rate on my 2wire homepage, and 99% of the time it's been between 600kbps - 1500kbps. Rarely, my upload rate also decreases to the 300kbps range. I haven't seen many disconnects or resets in the internet either, only when the speed is low and a few people in the household are using their devices.
Here are the reports from the 2wire page.
DSL Line (Wire Pair): Line 1 (inner pair)
Downstream Rate Cap: 6016 kbps
Downstream Atten. at 300kHz: 51.8 dB
Uncancelled Echo: -17.5 dB Ok
VCXO Frequency Offset: -36.8 ppm Ok
Final Rx Gain: 29.9 dB Ok
Impulse Noise Comp. Tones: 54 Suspicious - impulse noise detected
Excessive Impulse Noise: 0 Ok
Impulse noise protection: 0.00
Delay of latency path: 0.25 ms
Current Noise Margin: 6.0 dB 10.0 dB
Current Output Power: 18.4 dBm 11.9 dBm
I notice my attentuation is really high. My filters are installed correctly and nothing in the household has changed since the speeds went down. One thing that's been bugging me, though, is my DSL data path setting. It's currently in Fast mode while I recall it being in Interleaved when the connection was stable. Not sure if my line can handle Fast mode.
Sometimes, if I reset the router, it will increase its speed slightly and sometimes it will decrease.
Thanks for any input.

If it was stable when it was on interweaved mode, I would have At&t put it back on to interweaved.. if you do not want to wait a long time on hold with At&t send an email to David @ firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please include your name, address, phone number and that you want the line to be switched to interleaved mode.. An At&t rep may contact you [at home] just to make sure that you put in the request.
