[Internet] Bell Usage Meter Faulty

Today I received my Bell One eBill and much to my surprise I was charged an overage. When I clicked on the view usage tab next to the overage charge I found that I was well under my plan allowance of 205 GB and had some 55 GB left for the billing month in question. When I contacted Bell I first spoke to an agent in Costa Rica who couldn't explain it and when I asked to speak to a CSR in Canada they transferred my call to someone in the Philippines who for the life of him couldn't understand where I was getting the 55 GB left (apparently he didn't understand how a One Bill looked) and he couldn't transfer me to anyone and he then put me on hold for 20 minutes after which point I gave up in exasperation and hung up. I was wondering if anyone else had issues with Bell's usage meter?

BTW, Bell really needs to work on the competency of its CSRs. Last week I discovered that the cable from the wall jack to the modem had developed a fault causing my internet connection to fail and I requested a replacement. After couriering me the incorrect cable twice, the CSR, this time in El Salvador, transferred my call to a level 2 tech in Hamilton who promptly sent a tech. When the tech arrived he immediately handed me the correct cable, told me to replace it myself and left without even entering the house. I thought Bell techs were suppose to wait until your service was working before leaving but I guess he was in a hurry. At this point I am really wondering what the heck am I doing still sticking with Bell especially since I have no contract with them.

One Question

@videotron.ca

With all you have encountered, why are you still with this company?

I would suggest that you contact billing, not support. Get it worked out then tell them to cancel this great "service" and move on to someone else.

The Bell Usage Meter has been faulty since mid October for us, we have only used 2 GB today and it says we have used 9 GB.
We don't have the router on at night and as soon as we turned it on in the morning it said we had used 3.5 GB today, impossible!
Bell really needs to fix their system for usage reporting.
Also it's impossible that we could of used 46 GB this month. ):

Go to Canadian broadband forum and choose another company they have many with good reputation available. Your bill will be cheaper and you will have aces to support from Canada and nowhere else + most have unlimited connection.

I got hooked up October 1st, billing started on the 6th of October. got a bill on the 7th for $105 installation and 1st month + $80 for 488GB over usage.
then got a usage reminder this morning for using 68.14 GB this month since the 6th. while I had the tech on the phone we checked my last modem reset (November 1st) we then calculated at the bytes used from wireless and Ethernet side. the total was 0.94 GB since November 1st, while having the bell tech on the phone my usage went from 68.14 to 69.98 GB but the modem read as using less than 0.005 of a GB in that time.

Billing refused to adjust the bill as bells meter is fine according to the lady at billing. This was told to me after the bell tech transferd me to billing to have the bill adjusted due to the fact that there is a error in the counter.

Re: [Internet] Bell Usage Meter Faulty

I am with bell since 2011, but this October I have experienced the same problem. Somehow it shows that I used 90 GB!!!When I asked to cancel my services they told that it was a problem in their system and game the money back. I am experiencing the same problem for november...

I just noticed a problem with the Bell Usage Meter for this month so far. Never had a problem before. I use NetMeter and it has always shown a little higher (by 2gb) than the Bell Usage Meter. I was just checking my usage on the Bell site and it is higher than the NetMeter by .5gb. I will keep an eye on it over the next few days and see how it goes.

If I do find that the Bell Usage Meter is showing way to high usage against my NetMeter, I will just drop them like a hot potato. Their prices are going up in January 2013 anyway.

Hmmm........ I wonder if Bell is doing this to get as much money as they can because they know they are going to lose customers to the price increase?

ya i think there is something wrong with the bell usage meter also. i was with teksavvy up until about a week ago i switched to bell 15/10 service....(kinda regretting the switch now)

i used to average 50-60gb a month with teksavvy with most of the usage streaming off netflix and that is watching quite a few movies.

im one week into my bell service and im already at 25gb with about the same usage pattern....at this rate i will go over my 75gb limit by week 3.....

i will keep a close eye on the next few weeks and see what happens...i may switch back to teksavvy if this becomes an issue.
