[General] Hurricane Sandy Outage Questions

I am trying to reach my brother-in-law in lower Manhattan. Does anyone know if Verizon wireless service has been restored yet? Any information from the last 4 hours is appreciated. What about landlines in lower Manhattan. I am wondering about Great Jones Way near NYU - near 8th and Broadway??
