[Cable] November 1st Ottawa (Barrhaven) outage?Best I can tell my cable internet has been down since about 4am.
I checked my modem, and all the normal lights are flashing. I unplugged it for about 15 minutes, and then plugged it back in. Lights went back to normal, but no connectivity.
I connect through a Linksys router. In the "status" page, the IP addresses are all 0.0.0.0. |

Same problem here. I'm in Half Moon Bay, and it went down for me around 5:30-6:00am. |

I've also done this to no avail. I'm at work now and not at home to check. But checking my computers at Logmein shows nothing. I'm using a DCM-475. |

My internet wasn't working this morning, so I power cycled my modem, and the lights flashed differently.
I checked the diagnostic page, and now I have all 8 downstream channels, and 4 upstream channels appearing as functional. I suspect Rogers has been upgrading their network, and most users will require a power cycle to restore their internet.
No noticeable speed changes. I suspect it will be a while before Rogers upgrades their speed profiles.
I am really looking forward to faster upstream speeds. This particular aspect has been much-needed for the last 5+ years. |

Hey there, Good to hear you're back online. I agree with you 100% about the upload speeds - anxious to see those rolled out. Regard, TSI-Ashley |

Based on Logmein, my internet connection came back online within the past 30 minutes.
Checking the modem, the connection is now bonded with 8 down and 4 up. |

Unfortunately mine is still down.
I'm seeing 8 downstream channels and 4 upstream channels, however when I do an ipconfig /renew it times out connecting to the DHCP server, thus I'm not getting an IP.
Could it be a problem with the modem firmware? Thompson 475 on STAC.02.08. |
|
|
Mine is also on that firmware. On a related note, I'd like to find out how to upgrade.
I'm not at home, so I didn't even need to restart the modem. But have you tried a power cycle? |
|
|
Many many power-cycles As a fan of The IT Crowd, that's the first thing I do. |
|
|
I think it's called turning it off and on again... |

Hi there,
Modems with incompatible firmware will have a lot of erratic symptoms. I'm going to go review your post in the direct forum and see if anything else seems to be wrong.

Total lack of internet access is not normally due to outdated firmware on that modem. But sporadic loss of connectivity, modem resets, etc.. is something that does happen to DCM-475 modems with the 02.08 firmware, particularly after Rogers updates the channel bonding to 8/4.
I provide nearly-free firmware updates (Stac.02.16) to these modems for TSI customers here in the Ottawa area. You just have to send me an Instant Message via this site to arrange a 20 minute appointment. The updates are done at my home office in Bells Corners, and I ask for $5 towards the gear costs.
Cheers |

Hey there, I agree, usually erratic symptoms like the ones you've mentioned. In a handful of instances. I've run into a few SB5102's that never managed to re-register on the network after an upgrade. We have some issues going on in their area. Hopefully they're just part of the outage and their service returns soon. Take care, TSI-Ashley |

Cheers Thanks, that's something I'll consider if it comes to it. I haven't had a single problem with this modem thus far, so I'm clinging to hope it's something on the Rogers end. |

Came home from work, and my internet is now magically working again. Didn't even need a power-cycle! |
