| reply to StuartMW Whenever I have a need to run java, I just boot up a linux live cd that has it installed and run it that way. So far the only thing i've needed it for was the ICSI Netalyzr tool. -- ...Who, What, When, Where, How... Why? Why Not? |

This is what I get when I click on the links in both cases:

For Windows I'm usine IE 9 with default settings--strangley in looking I didn' see where one indicates "Java Script Enabled" option on IE but cookies are certainly enabled.
For OS X 10.6.7 I used the latest Firefox and set to accept all cookies and I know that Java works on it. |

| I normally test links I post in the preview page but didn't this time. I guess Oracle is smarter than most by blocking direct downloads
Guess you'll just have to go here

RebriderBeen There Done ThatPremium join:2000-11-23 | reply to StuartMW Any help on how to uninstall Java? I have done so on my Vista machines. However on my XP-SP3 when I go to add/remove programs and try to uninstall it, it tells me it can't do it because the program is located on a cd-Rom. I went to Sun/Java which sent me to a Microsoft help site that told me to use add/remove programs. Ha! Opened Ccleaner and it told me the same thing.
Thanks
PS: I've had it disabled forever, but I would like to remove it. |

| I've found that using MSI installers (for anything) can be problematic if the original MSI isn't available (e.g. if done from a now non-existent removable drive). If you know the version of the Java you have installed you can try and locate (Google etc) the original MSI install package and then point to that when add/remove complains.
If that doesn't work there are numerous Google hits for "Java removal". -- Don't feed trolls--it only makes them grow! |
