Re: New speeds Rogers cable - Teksavvy watch out

said by bt:

I'm wondering how much they're going to push for, though, given there was no retail price increase associated with these speed increases.

it's likely going to be the same price as Bell, $200.

I'm referring to the speed boost on tiers available to TPIA.

So, word is that the new speeds will be "new" TPIA tiers, with the current speeds being old, grandfathered tiers.

Hmm, where are you hearing that from?

Not charging extra for their own customers (yet), while sticking it to the TPIAs . . . seems TekSavvy and the others would have a legitimate case against Rogers if that's true.

Then again, that's assuming the CRTC even cares. And if Rogers isn't going to use the excuse that if you're not on aggregated, then tough luck.

Thanks for the heads-up. This doesn't look good at all.

»Re: Speed bump in Rogers Areas?

So quick summary... In rogers opinion new speeds = new tiers = new price for teksavvy customers despite the fact that their customers aren't seeing a price change.

Correct?

SO... has Teksavvy got confirmation of when or if TSI customers will be upgraded, and when? I would guess we would be, but as ROGERS has already updated their site with all the new speeds, it would be nice to know, when or if we are getting the same upgrade. I also would like to know so I can plan to downgrade my package.

No confirmation of anything yet.

Looks like we're going to have to go to the CRTC.

On aggregated TPIA, they're giving the higher speeds along with a higher cost.. yet, their own users did not get a price change. This is not allowed.

For disaggregated, what we're on. They're saying we dont get the upgrades at all. Also not allowed.

CNOC submitted a Request for Enforcement of Speed-Matching Requirement earlier today.

*sigh*

ARG... so it appears months before anything happens... One way to get around the "WE MUST HAVE IT FIRST" thing. Why can't they just play fair? This is getting tiresome.

"Nice" to know that they felt the need to go for the double-middle finger...

LOL yeah.

The good news is that we wont be affected by sudden, unannounced to us, speed increases that can cause congestion at the POIs.

We're also being asked to convert to aggregated. Where it costs us more and may result in price hikes. No offers have been extended to us either to deal with 70 gig links that we'd be stuck with if we converted.

fun fun.

Hope Blais is ready to rumble.

As in, sooner than the CRTC had originally set out (IIRC, 2 years)? Which you guys were already trying to get pushed back?

Who'd they bring in to provide the 3rd middle finger?

Told you they would come back with those two conditions. Not saying it couldn't change, but the aggregated stuff I believe the decision was very loose, did not specify rules on tiers and does not restrict TPIAs from converting to aggregated before contracts expire.

LOL, well. It seems there are actually two sides of the house over there.. if they each have two hands... humf. maybe we need to think about what the 4th one is busy doing?
