[OS X] Macs did NOT "automatically restart after power failure"

My office was just without power for 3 days. When the power came back on, the Macs (3 iMacs, 2 Mac minis) stayed powered down, even though they were all set to "automatically restart after a power failure".

Any reason as to why they didn't restart?

Is there a time limit where this feature doesn't work if the power is off for too long?

I think you might have answered your own question with your last question.
