Re: Patched your Java yet? I've found that using MSI installers (for anything) can be problematic if the original MSI isn't available (e.g. if done from a now non-existent removable drive). If you know the version of the Java you have installed you can try and locate (Google etc) the original MSI install package and then point to that when add/remove complains.
If that doesn't work there are numerous Google hits for "Java removal".
