 | Thomson DCM476 "Computers Allowed by Service provider: 2&qu Im with teksavvy cable 17Mbit profile, and I logged onto my 476 modem and find the following: "Computers Allowed by Service provider: 2" "Computers Detected by Modem: 2"
Does this mean if i tried to connect a 3rd computer to my router (476 is a modem with a linksys router connected to it), that one of my computers or device will not have internet connectivity??
Is this a teksavvy policy or what's going on here?? |

| Re: Thomson DCM476 "Computers Allowed by Service provider: It has nothing to do with that. It has to do with the modem's routing capability, if you were to connect 2 network devices to it would allow the use of 2 IP address. Assuming 1 on ethernet one on USB.
Since you're using your own router it is insignificant. |

| reply to callous You probably connected two different routers? Maybe recently changed / cloned a MAC address to your modem?
The "allowed" only looks at what is directly connected to the modem. It shouldn't matter what's connected after that. In other words you can have as many computers connected to the router as it can handle. However, only two different MAC addresses to the modem (ex: 2 different routers).
I believe it should reset after awhile. A power cycle for my SB6121 does the trick when I troubleshoot my routers. |

 | For me with this modem a simple power cycle seems effective too. |
