if you don't know who the douche is in the LFR group... it might be you.

Wouldn't hateful douche most likely be directly related to something they are saying in... raid chat?

If I am ignoring raid chat, how could I be spewing hateful comments.

Unless someone is trolling by pulling shit, or doing something wrong repeatedly I don't kick.

sheesh...

first, he replied to me, so it was a general statement about LFR.

second, ignoring chat can become a douche move when people are trying to communicate something to you (like asking for a pet, or asking for your MD to go to someone, or "make sure all pets have taunt turned off", etc). I'm still not calling you a douche, mind you. But the point of the DailyBlink graphic is that those of you who ignore the douches are contributing to the problem. Please use /VTK at a minimum. =)

Personally, I can't ignore my chat window (it's pathological)... never can. I might miss stuff (when I let my addons spam too much crap like EnsidiaFails or MFClip)... but I can't ignore it. I have always enjoyed being the guy to call out the douchebag, the self-proclaimed overlord of LFR jerk, or that guy who is very forcefully blaming the wrong group for a wipe because he/she cannot read Recount/Skada. I enjoy reporting name violations, language, and cheating (oddly enough, I'm not so worried about "cheating" by Blizzard's definition).

When players can be anonymous and have no accountability people tend to be vicious and mean with no regards to the results of their actions. That has been proven time after time, it even happened in the real world recently about storm Sandy. When you can become anonymous even people you wouldnt expect to be mean have been out right nasty and cruel.
I have stoped doing group activities unless it is from players that I know. its just not worth it anymore to tolerate the bad behaviors, becuase tolerance usually means acceptance.
I miss the good old days of vanilla wow. everyone knew each other and ninja\bad\rude\mean players got called out and you knew who they was and to avoid them.

this is the part of wow that has completly destroyed the MMO community aspect and fun of the game. thats a shame, wow is a great game, but Blizzard has chosen a path that has started to destroy a major part of feeling like you belong to something special.

I have even had a bad experience with some people on this forum community.

Agreed... except I want nothing to do with the "good old days of vanilla wow". VTK is a powerful tool. Running with a guild is still an option now (where it was mandatory in vanilla) and I am never truly forced to deal with asshats. Never. At worst, I drop LFR/LFD and have 100 other things I should be doing in WoW.

I agree Immer, the game is a lot better design wise, but i was referring to the community aspect of "vanilla" you made friends and learned who the "bads" was to avoid. the game is now set up that its near impossible to build friendships unless you join a guild and its only shown that this system of being anonymous is destroying the game.

Fair enough, but I was also speaking to that. I still maintain a /friends list (like we did in the old days) and have our guild and know of at least one other guild that has some genuinely good people. The only thing truly hurting my social experience is losing people from the server. It's not the same as it was... but I still maintain that it has only gotten better... despite the new tools exposing me to more of the mean people.

I could go on about codes of honor and such, but ill be brief, yes you can still find/make friends in the game. I at one time was very, very well known on my server, i played with the motto "If its red its dead" and if you was a rogue i camped you till you either logged or got friends to make me leave or i just couldnt find you anymore. with how blizzard has chosen the path of xrealm, LFR and LFG with players from other servers, the bad players are just leaving the worst expierences for players and it shoudnt be that way. I wish there was a better punishment system but thats impossible or unrealistic
I was out in dread wastes creating some pvp havoc, good old world pvp in action! and ended up making enemies(nothing makes me feel happier when they create or log onto an alt on my faction pst me with taunts\insults or trash talking) and added some players to my friends list who had a ton of fun and would like to stay in touch with me to do it again someday.

OP must be gay. Sorry, couldn't resist.
said by Immer:

I still maintain a /friends list

I used to that for a different reason--lots of pugged raids on my server meant loot ninjas pulling in unsuspecting raiders, so I would add them to my friends list and then add a note about their real name so I knew who they were after they paid for the name change. Then call them out in /2 and force them to pay another $25 to change it again. I know I personally caused a couple bans and a couple loot re-distributions by getting an entire raid of duped people to put in tickets naming the ninja and who got the highest roll and should have received the item. You'd know because the ninja hadn't logged in and that gear slot was empty on his armory. A good feeling.

With LFRs I usually just shut up and ignore the drama--LFR can be finicky and too few people read kick reasons so the douche just might get you quickly kicked, out of group apathy. Which means another long wait queue if you're dps. People get their panties bunched up too quickly over online name calling. I was always told that if you tangle with a pig, both of you end up muddy, but the pig enjoyed it.

If I'm tanking, I tend to take over the RL role and will actively call out the bads, the fails, and the undergeared if we are wiping, because it's my job as tank to get the group through the instance and down the final boss. People tend to respect that too, but not so much coming from a DPS.

I passively read it, but 95% is useless, and usually the 5% that is useful is put up in raid warning anyway.

When going to the last boss in MOV on my first time, the RL saying kill the adds 20 times actually got people to listen and me to know what to do. They did the same thing with the "floor boss" on Engalon or whatever his name is.

Nah, I still do world pvp. never needed or cared of the fame, reason i would do world pvp was for the RP aspect, i am at War against Ally and it would make me laugh when i would fly over see red, stop gank them and get ready to move on to find out that the horde that was with him would yell at me for killing their friend, i said if they was your real friend they would have rolled Horde
but no, i dont need the fame as a reason to fight. i just like a good challenge, i take it as a compiment to my skills if ally groups up to kill me

ill add in that at one time i had laid claim to Lost Riggers cove in Tanaris on my Rogue, that if any Ally entered the cave to get into lost rigger they would die or have to pay a tribute, I had camped that area of the zone so much that entire guilds would come to clear me/us out, i was ganking so much that my "infamous" behavior created a following of fellow rogues and this one girl who was very good at being a rogue and everyone knew her ended up joining me, oh the merry times we had, just the two of us could kill anyone before they had a chance and we would get away without dying.

this is what being part of a server ment, a comradie and fellowship, strong bonds of friendship was created, knowing other players respecting them for their skills, thats not so easy to find now, i dont think ill ever like the phase xrealm function, or LFR
mean people not only suck but ruin a good expierence for most players.

I hope to god you're on an RP-PVP server, or else you're just a giant ass interfering with people's daily grind.

Blizzard has botched the Alliance vs. Horde aspect of the game so hard anyways. There were many times in the WotLK, Cata, and MOP storylines I wanted everyone on both sides to die. There is a complete lack of diplomats and people with peaceful intentions.

I think, based on your faction, you should start out hated to the extreme by the other faction, but let you start to earn favor by extending an olive branch, and eventually become at least officially accepted by the rulers of the other faction (the orc that saved Stormwind, etc.). Then Blizzard could explore themes like racial extinction, genocide, racism, and intolerance...

... which would make it an awful lot like The Witcher or the Dragon Age series.

tl;dr ganking just to gank and creating your own fun by ruining others and then calling it RP is just childish if you aren't on an RP server.

Krisnatharok- PVP in a WAR game.

take a moment and think about a simple basic principle. World of WARcraft, its not called make peace craft, this aint dominos or hop-scotch

if you want a non combative game you really, picked the wrong game. yes you can make a toon on a non-pvp server. bg's, arenas or controlled enviroments for battling is only a part of the game. RED means enemy, you may choose to avoid a fight thats your right, out in the world. but if your red and i see you, 90% im going to stop and attack you. hoping of course that i win the fight and kill you.

it sounds like your ally and a rogue
and i can only interfer with a persons daily grind if they are on a pvp server. but that goes both ways. i have been ganked plenty of times, all part of the game of war.

my best friend was the female rogue who was also a female IRL, but then she got married and stoped playing. life happens, i was very happy that she found someone and is happy with. Thats still my dream girlfriend\wife a lady who plays wow.... and that might make me stop wanting to gank RED players

Thrall would disagree about killing everything in sight. I like how you claim you're RPing but really are just a lousy griefer out to prevent others from enjoying the game. You're probably a skilled opponent, but trying to kill someone until they log is not RPing shit. Anyways, see the OP.

I play many chars, but all Horde.

Thanks for espousing the idea that just because you CAN do something means you SHOULD.

Griefers pick on the weak and the easily killable, oftentimes ridicule them (lol u alliance brah?), but disappear as soon as a real fight shows up.

the same thing can be said about horde, just accept the fact that there is large amounts of dumb on both sides of the flag and move on.

I agree mean people suck.

But... It's wow. You CANT change it, you NEED to get used to it. Wasting 5 mins to kick 1/25th of the assholes in the group is a waste of time. That is what I think the pic gets wrong.

I can understand how since LFR is a bit harder now then it was for Dragon Soul that people want more of a real raid atmosphere. If you wipe and you see someone was afk half the time, then kick them as you get ready for the next pull. Sure.

But to try and enforce some type of moral standard on a group of 25 people who have almost complete anonimity that were tossed together by a computer at almost no cost to them self that most likely will never see each other again is just futile.

People get bored. People raid drunk. People raid before they grow pubes. Cranky ass vets with PTSD raid. Partisan political types raid. I bet the Grand Master of the KKK raids. Just /ignore them or /salute them and move on.

I don't disagree with the fact that you posted it, it's an interesting discussion.

I can't say it doesen't change it for you. But I still don't think kicking based on a moral position is a good idea.

Maybe I don't understand the kind of guy you mean.

My problem is people will kick people for any reason. All it takes is someone saying "Everyone kick %t for reason x,y,z" and 90% of the time he get's kicked, even if the reason is complete BS. People just want to get it over with. And if vote kicking might help, they do it. They don't investigate.

If someone is breaking TOS, report em. But making someone lose an hour because you don't like what they say is harsh, from your perspective it's warrented but your perspective is singular and maybe under review it really wasn't.

That's why I think it's best to just let them be. /ignore /salute or find the ? at the bottom right of your screen and open a ticket. But kicking should be only for people that are causing wipes or afking.

It takes a bit to kick someone, yes. That's why the image says to call them out in /rsay. Once you've attempted to call attention to the douchebag, he/she will have 1 of 2 options.. either be a mature person, or go full-retard. Once they go full retard, getting the VTK is easy. No one should have to put up with their garbage. That's what their vent and /g is for. They can go away bragging about how they trolled the LFR and got kick for whatever reason they want to make up so they seem like real tough guys to their guild... I don't care. VTK gives them their street cred.

I hate to say this or even be the one to say it, but you need to have tough skin to play with the internets. Trolling is trolling and that's why us old schoolers (most of us anyway) go by the saying "Don't feed the troll". 9 times out of 10 they will actually shut up if you just ignore them. Sometimes its just someone having a bad day. I tend to have a bad temper and hate seeing someone being bashed as a "bad player". I just switch to the loot window and roll on. LFR is a face roll anyway and you really just need 1 tank lol. Not for all bosses, but at least the first 5....
